MY VERY FIRST CLIENT: On camera skills now a must for all

Here's a story about my very first Confidence on Camera client. It was way back in 2011 and well before I, or anyone else had begun to realise why it was so badly needed.

My client, a business owner, asked me to teach him how to present to camera, just like I do for TV. 

I was surprised. I had no idea why he, or anyone like him, would ever need the skill I’d spent years perfecting as a broadcaster. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But as he told me, as a chiropractor, he wanted a way to support his patients even when they weren’t in his treatment room. To help them with their ongoing aches and pains, give advice on how to avoid injury at work or playing sport, and educate the public on the value of his product. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A decade on he’s recorded a catalogue of informative, easy to watch videos for social media, which showcase not just his profession, but also his business' most unique selling proposition: him. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today, he tells me new patients say they found him in one of those videos almost every single day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Showing the world who you are on video works.
